Create, Share and Inspire

Have you ever walked through a shop or market and seen something that you thought, 'I wish I could be that creative'. I am sure I am not the only one who has paid too much for a painted piece of plywood laser cut into a word or a canvas with a picture printed on it.

I have always loved crafts, but use to feel deflated after leaving a craft show or walking through a craft shop wishing I could create something. It takes that one moment when you see something and decide, 'I am going to do that'. I had that moment after years of wishing 'I could'. My mum convinced me to attend the Handmade Expo with her one Saturday morning. Walking around all the stalls and seeing that ordinary people had the courage to create and show off their crafts gave me inspiration.

That is where my journey began. I was fortunate enough that Christmas was only a few months away, so I started on small pieces that could be given as gifts. I never realised how critical I was of myself until I started. Even now I still look at something at not like the end result 100%. I love the rush of starting something new, the process of it all coming together but to stand back and see something that you envisioned not being exactly what you had hoped for is a little saddening. What drives me to continue is that one day I will look at something and not find a fault or wish it could have been better.

This blog is about creating pieces, sharing them with family and friends and hopefully inspiring you as well as being inspired myself by your comments and suggestions!

My first piece

This will always be the one that I love the most... the first piece I ever created!
